Motherhood in South Korea (5) :: Ser mãe na Coreia do Sul (5)

Sushi Coreano :: Korean Sushi (gimbab)

::::::::::::::: Comida Coreana :::::::::::::::

::::::::::::::: On Korean food :::::::::::::::

Korean food is way different from what we are used to in Europe. We eat less meat since we're leaving here because meat is very expensive and I like to see our toddler developing her palate with flavors so different from what we have at home. Just take a look at the photos!

Spicy food is everywhere. Shocking as it may be, in Korea it's often cheaper to eat out. Restaurant tables have a call button for calling the waiter. Instead of using a knife you'll use scissors. You'll see people cooking with chopsticks. Along with the main dish they'll bring you soup, rice and small side dishes.
 Kimchi is the most popular side dish in Korea(cabbage fermented with spicy paste). Koreans say “kimchi” instead of “cheese” when taking photos and they believe that kimchi can cure anything and the spicier the better!

Taça de arroz, vegetais, ovo e carne de vaca (bibimbab)

Sopa de kimchi (kimchi jjigae)

Sopa de algas :: Seaweed soup (miyeok guk)

Dumplings Coreanos :: Korean dumplings (mandoo)

Preparation time is 5 minutes and this is officially my Winter 2015's addiction. Traditionally in South Korea they do it with a fruit called Yuja but you can use lemon instead. It's delicious anyway!!
So...here is the recipe and I warn you that the glass jars with "Honey Citron Tea" are so beautiful that you'll end preparing some for your friends too.

PREPARATION  // PREPARAÇÃO

  1. Slice the yuja fruit (or lemon) thinly and quarter. // Cortar o limão em fatias finas.
  2. Remove the seeds. // Tirar as sementes.
  3. Transfer the fruit slices to a glass jar and add honey until the fruit solids are covered with liquid.
  4. Keep the glass jar closed and at room temperature for one day and then store in the refrigerator. Leave it there for 2 weeks before using, flavor improves with age.

HOW TO USE IT // COMO UTILIZAR

 Put one or two spoonfuls of honey citron tea in a mug and add boiling water. And it's ready to drink!
