St. Lucia Day :: Dia de Santa Lúcia

2017 fez-me perceber a importancia desta data.

In Sweden Christmas starts early with St. Lucia day on December 13.
During our first year living in a new country, there's a lot we have no idea about.
So it was with Lucia's day 2016. I realized what was going on when the party was already over. We were still able to eat saffron buns but never tried to bake them ourselves. And tried to read as much as I could about this celebration afterwords.
2017 on the other hand made me look forward to that day and for the first time I've realized how important this celebration is. There's very few hours of day light. There's no sun. It's windy and cold. Somehow it helps if you think: "If I made it till December 13, that means worst is over! From this day on things get a little better every day."
Well... We're almost there!

Girls with candle crowns, star boys, saffron buns, mulled wine and everyone dressing in white.
Saint Lucia. She who brings light.
